Our Mission to the Next Generation
At the heart of our church is a deep commitment to honor God as instructed in Proverbs 14:31: “…but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”
Empowering disadvantaged children from the local Burmese and Mon ethnic communities is our focus to make this happen. For these families, the financial burden of schooling is often too great. Our initiative bridges this gap for kids aged 6 to 12 providing free biblically based English and general education courses, essential school supplies, and nutritious meals.
We believe the Lord wants every child to have a chance to thrive and strive to be instruments His will. Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
We incorporate our lessons into bible stories, grounding the children in the Word and capturing their imaginations. Imparting academic knowledge while sowing seeds of God’s love. Psalm 9:9: “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” See also: Psalm 34:6, Psalm 146:7-9.

Systematic Expository Preaching
In our rapidly changing world human culture often takes precedence over the holy, inerrant Word of God. That is why we are determined to remain fiercely committed to the solid foundation of scripture regardless of this world and its chaos and confusion. We believe that the word of God is like an “action” verb. His word is a call to action. As instructed in James 1:22-25 we strive to be both “hearers” and “doers” of the scripture and not “hearers” only. To facilitate the equipping of believers for action our sermons are systematic, expository, Sola Scriptura and grounded in the Word of God.
Key Elements
- Systematic: Proceeds sequentially through a book (or section of scripture) covering every verse without skipping difficult or unpopular parts.
- Expository: The sermon’s main point comes directly from biblical text. The preacher exposes (explains) what God says in the passage through careful exegesis, context, grammar, and historical background.
Our sermons are typically chapter by chapter and verse by verse, however we also have the occasional topical teaching.
We recognize that God’s Word is the ultimate authority
God’s ways and thoughts are infinitely higher than our own. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 This humbling reality invites us to lean not on our finite understanding, but on His infinite wisdom.
The word and the wisdom of God can be found only in the bible because it is not of this world. James 3:17: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Meet Our Dedicated Leaders
MV Patong Phuket Church is led by Rev. Aland Tan, originally from Malaysia, and his Thai wife, P’Sunee. They dedicate their lives entirely to serving the Lord and His church through service to the broader community of Phuket. James 1:27: Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
God has extended their ministry far beyond Sunday mornings. Before, during, and after the pandemic, the Lord enabled them to personally organize the distribution of thousands of food packs to those in crisis while providing English lessons with a biblical context to children who have no other options for education.
Today, their ministries include adult diapers for the needy at Patong hospital as well as helping to provide cremation services for those who have lost a loved one and cannot afford final disposition for their loved one’s mortal remains. Psalm 72:12-13: For He will deliver the needy when he cries, The poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy, And will save the souls of the needy.
We are continually seeking new ways to uplift the needy. Through prayer and tireless work with the children and dedication to teaching the Word, Pastor Aland and P’Sunee along with our entire congregation invite you to join us in making a lasting difference in Phuket.
